Premier League Prediction Panel - Round 15 Commentary

Bookmark and Share

Another poor week for the panel with some more coupon busters pushing the average pundit to around four correct predictions out of ten; surely a little sanity must return to the Premier League soon? The biggest shock this week was the inability of three of the top four sides to win home games; Liverpool and Villa drawing 0-0 with West Ham and Fulham respectively, and Chelsea's home record taking another knock in a 2-1 home defeat to unpredictable Arsenal. Compared to those three games a home defeat for Spurs, another big away win for Bolton and a result in the Manchester derby (a lot of punts went on a score draw) barely registered as surprises. Has anyone won on a fixed odds spread in recent weeks?

Correct Score Percentages - Round 15

Squarefootball's Paul Grech is once again the top banana in predicting scorelines, with three of the scorelines from last weekend (Stoke / Hull 1-1, Wigans' 2-1 win over West Brom and Liverpool / West Ham 0-0). Peter Lee and Dan Taylor picked out two correct scores - but our pundits drew a blank.

Correct Result Percentages - Round 15

Squarefootball duo Paul Grech and Stephen Orford topped the correct result standings for the week, each picking six from ten correctly; with another three pundits picking five from ten. At the bottom two predictors saw their radar go awry as they scrambled just one result each.

Correct Result Percentages - Season To Date

Squarefootball's Paul Grech is also the biggest gainer on correct results, as the only pundit out of the top few to pick more than four out of ten this week. He closes to within 2% of Squarefootball's Bill Urban and level with Dave Blackburn who were both inactive this week. Six pundits are averaging less than four results out of ten each week.
The panel on average have picked 42% of all correct results this season, well below the 50% that we expected based on previous seasons.
