League One Play-off Previews - Milton Keynes Dons

Manager: Roberto Di Matteo

The MK Dons were in the hunt for automatic promotion for much of the season, but a run of just one win in nine threatened to derail their promotion campaign altogether before they regrouped and won six of their last seven matches to secure third spot in the table.

Roberto Di Matteo’s team is not short of firepower either, with Aaron Wilbraham, Sam Baldock, Ali Gerba and Peter Leven having all reached double figures, while Jemal Johnson and Jason Puncheon are both capable of unlocking defences and creating chances. That said, the goals didn’t exactly flow over the latter stages of the season, with them averaging just a goal-per-game over the last 11 matches.

Playing the 2nd leg of their semi-final against Scunthorpe United does give the Dons a slight advantage, although given that they secured more points on their travels than they did at Stadium:mk does perhaps suggest otherwise.

Results against play-off rivals: Millwall 0 MK Dons 4 (04 October 2008) MK Dons 0 Scunthorpe United 2 (06 December 2008) MK Dons 3 Leeds United 1 (20 December 2008) MK Dons 0 Millwall 1 (17 March 2009) Leeds United 2 MK Dons 0 (28 March 2009) Scunthorpe United 0 MK Dons 1 (18 April 2009)
