Arsenal v Burnley: Gunners eye top spot

Bookmark and Share

With Chelsea involved in FA Cup action and Manchester United not playing Wolves until 5.30pm (GMT) tonight Arsene Wenger has the perfect opportunity to return to the top of the Premier League with a win over Burnley, albeit maybe for a few hours.

A convincing 4-0 win for the Gunners will send them top on goal difference, piling the pressure on the top two, and considering Burnley have been simple awful on the road this season such a win is easily within Arsenal’s reach.

Brian Laws’s Burnley have managed to amass just one point away from Turf Moor this season and scored only twice on the road since their last visit to the capital in a 5-3 defeat at West Ham United. The Clarets currently reside in the bottom three but not even the most optimistic Burnley fan will expect them to derail Arsenal’s title hopes here today.

Arsenal will be buoyed by their brave fightback at Stoke City following Aaron Ramsey’s horror injury and will be keen to keep on the winning trail for their young Welshman.

Burnley haven’t triumphed on the red half of north London since 1974 – their only win in more than 50 years – and unsurprisingly the Panel has unanimously gone for a convincing home win.
