Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur: Redknapp has Arsenal in his sights

Bookmark and Share

Tottenham Hotspur achieved their main goal on Wednesday night by beating Manchester City at Eastlands to book their place in the Champions League but now they have a new target in their sights.

If Spurs beat Burnley this afternoon and Europa League finalists Fulham make history by recording their first win at Arsenal, Harry Redknapp will cap an extraordinary season in style by sensationally finishing third and above their north London rivals.

Burnley have known their fate for a few weeks now but Brian Laws’s men will want to put on a show for their loyal fans and that could see Spurs end the season with defeat. Turf Moor hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the boys from north London in recent trips. In fact, Spurs have managed just three wins at Burnley in the past 56 years. However, Spurs will be buzzing after securing a top four finish at least in midweek and Redknapp will be hoping his players end the campaign in style.

The Clarets have beaten the likes of Manchester United and Everton and thwarted the attacking advances of Arsenal and Aston Villa at home but have given the natives just one win to cheer at Turf Moor since the end of October. Spurs put five past the beast at White Hart Lane in September and many fans fear Redknapp’s men may end up doing a Manchester City on them.

Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur; Kick Off 4pm 09 May 2010
