Hull City v Liverpool: Rafa looks for the joy of sixth

Bookmark and Share

Liverpool have never lost to Hull in a competitive game in their history and I can’t see that statistic changing this afternoon. The Reds have endured an awful season by their high standards and Rafa’s promise of finishing fourth proved to be as reliable as an MP’s. However, they have the chance to end the season on a winning note and possibly finish above Villa in the table.

A Liverpool win, which is widely expected, combined with a Blackburn Rovers win at Aston Villa will see the Reds leapfrog the Villains into sixth spot and avoid another round of games in the Europa League next season.

Hull City always faced an uphill battle to retain their Premier League status due to their awful goal difference compared with West Ham United, but their slim hopes were dashed in dramatic fashion on Monday at Wigan thanks to Gohouri’s last-gasp overhead kick. Can they end the season with a bang? It looks highly unlikely.
