Newcastle United v Aston Villa: Mags seek revenge on the Villains

Bookmark and Share

Aston Villa effectively consigned Newcastle United to the Championship the last time they met and Chris Hughton’s men will be looking to make up for that heartache this Sunday.

Newcastle United managed to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking but a Paul Scholes-inspired Manchester United saw their return end in defeat. However, the Mags will fancy their chances of registering their first points of the season as St James’ hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the visitors down the years. Villa’s away record last season though was up there with the best so they too will be confident going into the game.

Villa easily disposed of West Ham United on the opening day but were Villa exceptional or were the Hammers simply woeful? This will be their first game without James Milner and Stephen Ireland will be keen to get his Villa career off to a winning start.

St James’ Park will be bouncing ahead of their first home game of the campaign but the Panel is edging towards an away win.
