West Ham United V Chelsea: It’s getting grim for Grant

Bookmark and Share

It’s bottom versus top this weekend at the Boleyn Ground and everything points to more pain for new West Ham boss Avram Grant. The former Chelsea and Portsmouth managed is rumoured to have just three games to save his bacon at the Hammers but only the most optimistic Hammers fan can see them turning over the champions on current form.

Chelsea head across the capital with a 100 per cent record and they look simply unstoppable. They haven’t conceded a goal yet, Malouda looks in fine form and even missed spot kicks from Frank Lampard can’t deny them victory.

Meanwhile West Hams fans are wondering where their first points of the season will come from, as after Chelsea they face Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Grant and West Ham must take it one game at a time but the pressure on them to get some points on the board is building daily.

The Hammers haven’t beaten Chelsea home or away in 11 previous meetings but they did achieve a credible draw at Upton Park last season when Zola’s position was under threat.

Only our optimistic West Ham pundit can see anything other than an away win here.

Panel Verdict

The Panel believes Avram Grant’s former club will do his future prospects at Upton Park no good by inflicting another defeat on them.
