Blackburn Rovers v West Brom: Hodgson hopes his Baggies can batter Blackburn

Bookmark and Share

Blackburn v west brom

West Brom fans were livid last weekend as Wigan Athletic left the Hawthorns with maximum points. This Saturday the Baggies take on struggling Blackburn Rovers, but Albion’s record in Lancashire suggests this could be another frustrating day for Roy Hodgson’s men.

The Baggies have picked up just four points from a possible 18 and find themselves just three points ahead of the dreaded drop zone. They have failed to score in their past three visits to Ewood Park and haven’t won there for 20 years. If this game goes with history then Roy Hodgson could well be on the end of more booing than under-fire Blackburn boss Steve Kean.

The Blackburn fans have made their feelings towards the bald Scot perfectly clear, but it looks as though the players are right behind the gaffer. Kean’s decision to sit back and try to defend their 1-0 lead at Sunderland last weekend was a strange one, and one that ultimately cost them the game. However, the Venky’s appear to have utmost faith in him and a win here will only cement his position with the board.

Rovers have picked up just five points from their past six outings and are in danger of propping up the table on Christmas Day – and we all know what that tends to mean. However, Yakubu was Four-midable in Blackburn’s last game at home and Steve Kean will be hoping for a similar performance this weekend as Blackburn welcome their former boss Roy Hodgson and former defender Steve Reid back to Lancashire. But will they come out on top here? Our pundits believe so.
