Predict the Premier League: Blackpool are top but Portsmouth are closing in
The festive period produced shocks galore in the Premier League with the leaders Manchester City, the champions Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all losing games they would have expected to have won.
Trying to predict the outcome of the games from Boxing Day up to January 5 was as tricky as trying to steal a jam doughnut from Johnny Vegas. However, our crack team of pundits still managed to record an impressive batch of scores. None more so than Portsmouth's Peter Rendle who picked up 23 points to close the gap on our leader Blackpool's Phil Trow to just eight points.
There's no change at the bottom though as Middlesbrough's Sue Gardener and Leeds United's Phil Bundy fight to avoid the wooden spoon.
