Wolves v Aston Villa: Can Villa do a Birmingham double over Wolves?

Bookmark and Share

Wolves v villa

It's another derby match for Mick McCarthy and Wolves and everyone will be hoping for a better game than the two FA Cup servings dished out with Birmingham. Wolves will definitely seek a better outcome.

The home side start the weekend one point above the drop zone but, with QPR hosting Wigan and Blackburn travelling to Everton, there's every chance Wolves could be in the bottom three on Saturday night - unless they can beat Villa.

The visitors haven't lost at Molineux for 34 years and Alex McLeish's men will still be dining out on that famous win over Chelsea. However, just six points separate Villa and Wolves and the last thing McLeish needs is a derby defeat. A win could send them back into the top half. Defeat isn't being mentioned.

Wolves haven't won at home since beating Sunderland at the beginning of December but they will be buoyed following last weekend's draw at high-flying Spurs. Villa have dominated this fixture in recent years but Matt Jarvis scored the winner for Wolves last season at Villa Park and the two shared the spoils earlier this season. Have Wolves turned the corner against their nearest and dearest?
