Predict the Premier League: The race for second is really hotting up

Bookmark and Share

With four matchdays left in the Barclays Premier League, Blackpool's Phil Trow looks to have the title in the bag. He has now moved 10 points clear of his nearest challenger, but with only three points separating Hugh Larkin in second and Portsmouth Peter Rendle in fifth, you'd be mad to start handing out the silverware now.

The Seasider was one of the top scorers over the past three matchdays, picking up an impressive 21 points. However, Squarefootball's Hugh Larkin and Aberdeen's Colin Illingworth take the plaudits this week for their scores of 22. Those points have seen Mr Larkin climb into second place and Mr Illingworth up to seventh.

Aston Villa's Lynette Ranson is our answer to Wolverhampton Wanderers, she's been done for a long time, while our editor Antony Melvin faces a real fight on his hands to escape the bottom three. It was good news for Middlesbrough's Sue Gardener who has finally exited the bottom three. What an escape artist she is! Rochdale's Matt Turner has slipped in to the danger zone.

Here is how the overall table now looks.
