Arsenal: Where will Robin Van Persie start next season?

It's Groundhog Day as far as Arsenal fans are concerned. For the past decade, every summer has been full of rumours about the future of one of their big names. Patrick Vieira started it all off, then it was Henry, then Fabregas and Nasri, and now Robin Van Persie. Why does Arsene Wenger always put the fans through this every 12 months? Can't he just do his job and commit RVP's future to the club or cash in on him now, allowing him to plan for the new season either way?

Manchester City, Barcelona and AC Milan are all being linked with Arsenal's MVP, but where will he start the new season? Bookmaker Coral has opened a book on the subject and Arsenal fans will be pleased to know that he is 4/6 favourite to kick off with the Gunners. However, that doesn't necessarily mean he will commit his future to the club long term. Wenger could decide not to let RVP leave and force him to see out the remainder of his contract or the Frenchman could let him leave on transfer deadline day.

If you think Manchester City will splash the cash to convince RVP his future is at the Etihad you can get odds of 2/1. The Dutchman has a lot of love for Arsenal though and I would be surprised to see him play for another club, but Nasri, Clichy and Toure are all there so he could be made to feel at home straight away.

However, if you believe the lure of La Liga and the chance to team up with Fabregas at Barcelona will tempt him then you will get odds of 10/1. Even though Pep Guardiola has gone, who could resist the opportunity to play alongside Messi, Iniesta and Xavi? Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid, who won the title this season, are also 10/1. Could the Special One convince RVP to trade in the Emirates for the Bernabeu?

Italian giants AC Milan are 20/1, Chelsea are 25/1 along with Inter Milan and Juventus while Bayern Munich are an outside bet of 33/1.

RVP's wage demands appear to be putting off a number of suitors, but that will not discourage Manchester City who are rumoured to be willing to pay more than £250,000 a week.

Arsene Wenger may be prepared to play the waiting game again. With only a year left on his contract it's claimed that some clubs will not bid above £25 million for him. For a guy who has scored 37 goals this season, that's a disgrace. RVP could command a price tag of twice that easily. With that in mind would Wenger be right to keep hold of his man for another season, hoping to convince to stay, or cash in on him now and potentially miss out on the Champions League?

Calling all Arsenal fans. How much would it take for you to be willing to let RVP leave? How much would it mean to you if the Dutchman decided to stay at the Emirates? Could you really blame he if he left? If he did do you think it's time Wenger went with him? Whatever your views, we'd love to hear from you.
