Predict the Premier League: Stoke have title in their sights

Bookmark and Share

Stoke City's Phil Eccleston has been the man to beat for the majority of the season in our Predict the Premier League and even a huge dip in form over the past three weeks still sees him 22 points clear of his nearest rival with two matchdays left to play. But can Aston Villa's Frank Pattison put a terrible season behind him to clinch the title from under Stoke's noses or will it be Manchester United who flex their muscles and steal the title at the last minute, or will Stoke finish off the job in style?

In all fairness, the title should be Mr Eccleston's. He has been the most consistent performer over the past nine months, but as Roberto Mancini will be telling his troops ahead of their crunch game with Newcastle United this weekend, you don't win anything for being top after 36 games. However, unlike City, who only have a lead of eight goals to rely on, Stoke are 22 points to the good!

The battle to avoid the drop is really heating up though. Six teams are realistically in trouble but can Swansea, Arsenal and Liverpool perform the Great Escape to plunge Everton, Chelsea or Wigan through the Predictions trap door?

Here is how the table currently stands.
