Stoke City v Everton: Can Everton put four past the Potters?

Bookmark and Share

The Toffees were four-midable again on Saturday against Martin Jol's Fulham, but can they continue their recent scoring exploits and see off the Potters at the Britannia?

While Everton were sticking four past Fulham without reply, Stoke City were involved in a tasty tussle with high-flying Arsenal. The Potters came out of the game with a point, but can they do Liverpool a favour by denying Everton victory tonight? A quick look in the history books suggests they might.

Stoke City claimed all three points last season in a 2-0 victory. That was their first win over the Toffees in the Premier League and they followed that up with victory at Goodison in December, courtesy of Robert Huth. The Potters now go in search of their first double over Everton for the first time since 1967.

The Toffees have only managed to record one Premier League win at the Britannia. That came in September 2008 when the visitors edged a five-goal thriller. Everton have hit the goal trail in recent weeks and four, not three, seems to be the magic number. Sunderland, Manchester United and Fulham have all been put to the sword by Jelavic and co. Will Stoke join that list?

Everton may not be able to keep up their exploits in front of goal but they have a chance of leaving Staffordshire with all three points. Unfortunately our pundits seem to be edging towards a home win.
