Chelsea: Four more players Di Matteo needs to keep his eyes on

Earlier this week Squarefootball writer Brandon Stewart highlighted three players that Chelsea should really consider signing this summer. Well our latest recruit Tapan Jindal has come up with a further four players worthy of a place at the home of the Champions League winners.

Here are the four youngsters he believes could save Chelsea a packet in the long run.

As a really harsh critic the only thing I find lacking in Chelsea FC is the presence of (enough) young prospects who may be able to save us millions and keep our status intact in case Abramovich leaves or in a highly unlikely case, stops spending. Some may say that Clifford, Piazon and co may be enough but they are just a handful and anyways cannot make a whole first team later.

So here are some talents Chelsea should really keep an eye on:

1. Juan Manuel Iturbe

He is a very young player, relatively unknown in football circles but with huge potential and that includes shooting, crossing, dribbling and speed. Instead of opting for Theo Walcott, (who may be rediscovering himself after the Euros) we can consider him as he will mainly not cost that much, have a much larger room for development and arguably be a much better all round player than Theo (in case that rediscovery shuts).

Here is a video of him. Remember, he is very very young and though his skill may not match up to Sturridge, let alone Hazard, you can see the potential there.

2. Christian Eriksen

He is already a superstar and, myself included, already has many die-hard fans. He is truly a talent personified and at the age of 18 can easily shame almost any defender in the world. His style of play is really creative and it was depressing to see that Denmark were causing their own downfall at the Euros by not giving him enough of the ball. His one touch bit out of control style may be very annoying for some of his team-mates but that’s how top clubs like Barca play with tiki-taka and stuff. If Chelsea is really ardent on emulating Barca under Pep, he is a must sign.

3. Miralem Pjanic

He may be quite a bit older than the others and I can already imagine the comments about me deviating away from the topic coming in, but as a young player (early twenties), he plays top class football and for a top club in AS Roma. This video says it all:

4. Julian Draxler

Everyone has seen him in the Bundesliga and almost every German knows him by now. He is a huge talent which just recently surfaced once he got his chance to become a first team member at Schalke 04. The exit of Raul would have been a blessing in disguise for Draxler since it opened up a spot in the team which he gratefully clutched with both his hands.

Calling all Chelsea fans. Well that's who Tapan believes Chelsea should sign this summer, but do you agree or disagree? Whatever your views, we'd love to hear from you.
