Bergkamp, Gazza, Larsson, Fowler, Shearer or Beckham - which former star would you like back at your club?
Scottish football is in a sorry state right now as the Rangers debacle rumbles on, but today (Friday the 13th) Charles Green's newco Rangers are due to find out whether they will be gracing the first or third division of the Scottish Football League.
It's been a crazy few months for the men from Ibrox, but manager Ally McCoist has been handed a huge boost this week by former team-mate and England legend Paul Gascoigne, who, despite being 45, has revealed he would be prepared to pull on the boots once more for free to represent the Glasgow club if they were consigned to the bottom rung of the ladder.
Gazza of course is a hero to Rangers fans and won two SPL titles, the Scottish Cup and League Cup during his time with the Teddy Bears. But it got me thinking, which former footballer would you love to see back at your club?
We have all had our heroes and would love to see them in action just one more time. Arsenal fans welcomed Thierry Henry home last season on loan from the New York Red Bulls. The Frenchman popped up with the winner in a FA Cup tie against Leeds United after coming on as a sub in his second debut for the club. So would they be tempted to see the mercurial Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp back in the side? What about Patrick Vieira or Tony Adams? One thing's for sure there's not going to be a rush on for Eddie McGoldrick's return!
Rangers' arch-rivals Celtic have had a few big names play for them over the years. Henrik Larsson, Chris Sutton, John Hartson and Paolo Di Canio instantly spring to mind, but surely the ice cool Swede Larsson would get their votes, wouldn't it?
Liverpool may not have won the league title in two decades but they have picked up their fair share of silverware, including the Champions League. But who would they like to see back in action? Would it be God, AKA Robbie Fowler? What about someone who is still playing like Alonso or someone from the glory days like Rush, Dalglish, Hansen or Molby?
What about Newcastle United fans? Would they plump for their local hero Alan Shearer or how about the magical Peter Beardsley? Would Philip Albert get a shot or would David Batty get your vote? I think it's fair to say that Titus Bramble and Boumsong will not be featuring too highly.
Manchester United have had the likes of Cantona, Keane, Beckham and Ronaldo leave Old Trafford over the past 15 years but who would they want back?
And what about Leeds United. They have seen the likes of Mark Viduka, Jonathan Woodgate, Alan Smith, Lee Bowyer, Harry Kewell and Lucas Radabe depart Elland Road, but who would they love to see back in action?
It doesn't matter who you support, we'd love to know which former great you'd love to see back on the pitch for your team one last time.
