Reading v Stoke City: Can Stoke end their barren spell at the Madejski?

Bookmark and Share

Reading v Stoke City

Reading make their Premier League return with a home fixture against Stoke City and the hosts will fancy their chances of bagging all three points as the Potters haven’t won there for 20 years. Can Tony Pulis get the new campaign off to a flyer or will it be a right Royal knees up at the Madejski?

The Royals haven’t won their opening day fixture since they beat Middlesbrough in 2006 and you have to go back three years for the Potters' last win on the curtain raiser.

Reading start the season with bags of confidence after claiming the Championship title last season, but Stoke will be confident themselves, having established themselves as a Premier League outfit over the past few seasons. But will it be a good day for McDermott or Pulis?

Panel Verdict

It looks as though it could be honours even at the Madejski.
