West Brom v Everton: Can the Baggies do to Everton what they did to Liverpool?

West brom v everton

The last time Everton won their opening three games of the season Culture Beat were top of the UK singles chart with Mr Vain, John Major was Prime Minister and Jurassic Park had just wowed cinema-goers. The year was 1993. Unfortunately it didn't turn out to be such a glorious season for the Toffees. They were forced to win their final game of the season to stay up.

However, this Everton side should avoid a similar fate as David Moyes has assembled a side to be reckoned with. Jelavic, Fellaini, Pienaar, Jagielka, Osman, Baines, Naismith and Mirallas - who opened his account in midweek in the Capital One Cup - are all talented and honest professionals desperate for success at Goodison Park. If they are near the bottom of the table near the end of the season I'll be amazed.

They were too much for Manchester United to contend with and eased passed Villa. But this article isn't all about Everton. West Brom have made a sterling start to the season themselves. They breezed past Liverpool on the opening day and showed their fighting spirit to draw with Spurs last weekend. Steve Clarke's appointment was initially questioned - was he the right man for the job, could he handle being his own man, etc - but he has more than won over the doubters.

Everton completed a clean sweep of victories over West Brom last season, gaining revenge for the Baggies' double the previous season. But with both sides in form, who will go into the international week with their unbeaten record in place?
