Everton v Newcastle United: Can David Moyes outsmart Alan Pardew?
Both Everton and Newcastle had the wind taken out of their sails a fortnight ago by teams from the Midlands. Everton's unbeaten run came to an abrupt end against West Bromwich Albion while Newcastle had to rely on a wonder goal from Hatem Ben Arfa to secure a point against Aston Villa. But who will be celebrating at the final whistle tonight?
Only Arsenal have left Goodison Park with maximum points during 2012 so Newcastle United are going to have to be on form to get anything from the Toffees this evening. The Toffees have already seen off the threat of Manchester United this season and David Moyes will feel confident of seeing off Alan Pardew's men.
Everton have won nine of the clubs' previous 18 Premier League meetings at Goodison Park, but you can never write off an Alan Pardew side, especially one which carries the firepower of Demba Ba, Cisse and Ben Arfa.
Newcastle have won five times at Goodison in the Premier League, their last win coming courtesy of a bullet from Ben Arfa in 2010. Can the Frenchman produce another match-winning effort this evening or will it be Fellaini, Jelavic and Baines on song come the final whistle? Our pundits believe it could be another successful day at home for the Toffees.
Everton v Newcastle
United; Kick Off 8pm September 17 2012
