Sunderland v Wigan Athletic: Black Cats seek first three points
Both Sunderland and Wigan picked up a rare win bonus in midweek after knocking out MK Dons and West Ham United respectively, but who will come out on top this weekend when the two clash at the Stadium of Light?
Martin O'Neill's men are yet to win in the league but they came agonisingly close to doing that last weekend against the Hammers, only for former Mag Kevin Nolan to deny them all three points. Nolan's injury time equaliser was a real kick in the teeth, but the manager would have been pleased with the way his team fought against the Dons.
Wigan are turning into cup kings this season. Hot on the heels of putting four past Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, Martinez's men put four past West Ham at Upton Park. If only the Spaniard could get his team playing like that week in, week out, in the league, they would be flying.
Wigan came out in this fixture last season. Franco Di Santo was the hero with a late winner. But the Black Cats got their revenge when they beat them 4-1 at the DW in January. But who will come out on top here? Our pundits are favouring the home side.
Sunderland v Wigan Athletic; Kick Off 3pm September 29 2012
