Blackpool: Can Phillips pip Ince to be their top scorer?

Bookmark and Share

Blackpool surprisingly failed to score at the weekend against Cardiff City. It was only the second time this season that the Tangerines had failed to hit the back of the net but it was their second league defeat on the trot.

The Seasiders, who started the campaign with three wins on the bounce, have now slipped out of the play-off places, but everyone knows that this division has more twists and turns than a Stephen King thriller.

Midfielder Tom Ince is the Tangerines top scorer so far and is currently being linked with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window. The son of former England captain Paul Ince has notched six times in the league, four more than his nearest challengers, Nathan Delfouneso, Nouha Dicko and Gary Taylor-Fletcher, all on two.

Ince is currently Evens with Bet Victor, but if you think he may be on his way in January there are some tasty odds to get your teeth into now.

Legendary marksman Kevin Phillips has yet to register this season, but he is 5/1 with Bet Victor. Phillips is the only Englishman to have won the European Golden Shoe and can still be relied upon for a goal or two from the bench. He was the club's top scorer last season and always gets himself in to the right place at the right time, even though he is 39!

Nathan Delfouneso has hit the back of the net twice this season and is currently at 6/1. The on-loan Aston Villa striker scored twice in the recent 4-1 win over Middlesbrough and will be looking to prove something to Villa boss Paul Lambert.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who was the club's second top striker last season with eight, is 7/1. The 31-year-old has never been a prolific marksman but he always get in amongst the goals. He has two on the board already, but the Tangerines will not win promotion if he finishes as top scorer.

Matt Phillips is next at 8/1. He scored the winner against Leeds United on the opening day of the season but hasn't found the target since. The 21-year-old English-born Scot has a bright future ahead of him, but again I'd be astounded if he beat Ince and Super Kev to the title.

Nouha Dicko scored in back-to-back games in wins against Leeds United and Ipswich, but he has since gone quiet. Bet Victor have the on-loan Wigan striker at 14/1.

Midfielder Elliott Grandin is 20/1. The young Frenchman has notched once in two substitute appearances. Imagine what he could do if he was given 90 minutes to shoe his skills!

After that you are looking at 25/1 or more. So who is your money on? Whatever your views, we'd love to hear from you.
