Southampton v Spurs: Can Spurs finally score at St Mary's?

Bookmark and Share

Southampton v Spurs

Both Southampton and Spurs conceded four goals last weekend and this game promises to have more goalmouth action, but who will come out on top?

Spurs are the bookies favourites and it's easy to see why. They have a number of top class players in their squad, are 10 points ahead of the Saints in the table and are challenging for a Champions League position. Southampton on the other hand are still seeking their first clean sheet of the season and vying to get out of the drop zone.

However, did you know that Tottenham haven't even scored a single goal on the south coast since beating the Saints 1-0 in 1999 and have only triumphed on Southampton soil twice in the Premier League? That's six games the Spurs fans have left the south coast without seeing their side register a single goal. That is a terrible record. One that Nigel Adkins will be praying continues to play long into tonight.

Southampton have a great spirit about them and are always good for a goal or two, at either end of the pitch.

AVB managed to erase more than 20 years of hurt at Old Trafford by leading his men to victory. Can he do the same this afternoon on the south coast? Our panel certainly believes he can.
