Liverpool v Southampton: Can the Reds return to winning ways?
Liverpool lost their eight-game unbeaten run at White Hart Lane in midweek but can they bounce back to winning ways this weekend against Southampton?
Brendan Rodgers's men start the game as favourites but the Saints should be overlooked at your peril. They claimed victory in the last meeting between the sides in 2005 and won at Anfield as recently as 2003. With Nigel Adkins's attacking philosophy combined with players like Lambert, Lallana and Puncheon, the Saints will pose problems for Liverpool's defence.
Liverpool are coming to terms with Rodgers's way of thinking and they have had some good results in recent weeks. However, defeat at home to Southampton will see the Saints climb to within a point of them. Victory though should see them soar into the top half.
Southampton should have claimed all three points in midweek at home to Norwich but Gazzaniga let one squirm under his body. They still emerge unbeaten though and the Saints have gone four games without sampling the bitter taste of defeat in their mouths. Confidence is high but can they extend their unbeaten run to five?
