Bale, Michu, RVP or Suarez: Who is your Player of the Season?

Bookmark and Share

There have been some outstanding performers in the Premier League this season. Gareth Bale's stunning goals and man of the match displays have helped Tottenham's top four dreams, Luis Suarez is currently topping the league's scoring charts, Robin van Persie's arrival at Old Trafford has all but wrestled the title away from City while Michu has been a revelation at Swansea following his £2 million summer move.

But who is your Player of the Season?

Here is a selection of views from a few Squarefootball writers and readers.

Hugh Larkin, Squarefootball writer, said: "Player of the season has to be Gareth Bale. No-one else is generating anywhere near the same excitement - and he's winnng games, not just turning in cameos."

Dave Disciascio, Liverpool fan and Squarefootball writer, said: "Simply, Suarez. He is the league’s leading scorer and odds on to win the golden boot. The Uruguayan has been consistently sensational all season and has yet to suffer a dip in form. Rival van Persie lost his form after Christmas while conversely Bale has turned it on in the New Year (Suarez even recently out-dueled the Welshman).

"He might not win any silverware this year, but he wins my Player of the Year."

Ben Rogers wrote on Google+: "Michu. Nobody knew who he was in August and now he looks like the signing of the season. I think with better players around him at the likes of Liverpool or Arsenal could see him become a truly wonderful player."

Andy Wakeman, West Brom fan, said: "Bale without a doubt. He has been the defining influence in Spurs's season. All the others mentioned have had good moments but Bale has been the best over the season."

Daliso Mweene wrote on Google+: "It's between Suarez and Bale for me. Though RVP will get it when he leads Man United to the Premier League title."

Tony Ratton, Sunderland fan, said: "Michu would be my player of the season given that it was his first season in the Premier League and the Swans are not a top five/six club."

Jonathan J Shepard wrote on Google+: "Michu is certainly the bargain buy of the season, RVP has probably had more direct impact in terms of a teams performance, Bale maturing into a great player, Suarez, probably the most feared striker in the league, but for me, Pablo Zabaletta. Why? Cos he's nails."

Dave Blackburn, Bolton Wanderers fan, said: "At the moment I don't think you can look any further than Gareth Bale after what he is doing at Spurs this season - where has the lad has come from? Twenty odd games before his first ever win in a Spurs shirt, unlucky mascot and booed on more than one occasion. If I am not mistaken, he was Young Player of the Season last year and I think he deserves the big one this time. His goals and assists have been very important. He would walk into any team at the moment."

Juan C Persistance wrote on Google+: "I've seen Michu here in Spain and he has evolved a lot. He was a good player but now he has added some details that make him one of the best players of this season. Swansea supporters must be very proud of him. I'll vote for him but I'd like to vote for Luis Suárez too."

Mitch Waddon, Squarefootball writer and West Ham fan, said: "I am going to go with Luis Suarez. Liverpool have been so dependant on him this season and he is currently the top scorer in the league. Without his goals they would be around 12th or 13th in the league. Suarez has been magnificent all year for Liverpool and will continue to be, whereas Robin Van Persie has gone off the boil at Manchester United. You could argue for Gareth Bale, but I think his four bookings for simulation will count against him, although to be fair a couple of them were wrongly given. Still, my player of the season is Luis Suarez."

Well there's a good cross selection of views there, but who do you think deserves the accolade?

Whatever your views, we'd love to hear from you.
