Manchester City v Chelsea: Will Mourinho attack at the Etihad?

Bookmark and Share

It's the biggest clash of the Premier League season so far but will Jose Mourinho head to the Etihad with a plan to attack Maunel Pellegrini's men or will he park the bus like he did at Manchester United and Arsenal?

The Special One made himself look incredibly daft last weekend when the Blues dropped points at home to West Ham United. Mourinho slammed Sam Allardyce for his 19th Century football, totally forgetting about his own attempts at boring the fans to death at the Emirates and Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho NEWTonight Chelsea travel to high-flying and free-scoring Manchester City and they will have to be well organised and well drilled to stop the hosts from handing out yet another severe beating.

Pellegrini's men are unbeaten at home in the league and have dished out some heavy punishments along the way. Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United are among the teams to have had their asses spanked by City this season. Could Chelsea be about to join the club?

Manchester City have quality running throughout the squad. They have internationals ready to cover every area of the pitch, but Chelsea are not too bad either. For every Silva, they have a Hazard. For every Kompany they have a Terry, but for every Negredo and Dzeko, Chelsea fall down badly. Eto'o has found his scoring boots but Torres is out injured yet again. It's the visitors' lack of cutting edge that could be their downfall tonight.

Chelsea's last-gasp victory over City in October was their first triumph over the boys in blue from Manchester for two years. There was a time when Chelsea viewed games against City as six easy points a season. They did the double over City four season on the trot between 2005 and 2009, but not any more.

City start the game as favourites, but that will only make Mourinho extra determined to get a result.

Arsenal fans will no doubt be praying for anything other than a City win, but the hosts haven't dropped a single point on their own patch this season and Spurs boss Tim Sherwood even hailed them as the best team on the planet.

This should be a cracker, but Chelsea have managed to ruin two big games already this season with their negative tactics. Will this be another one to forget or will there be fireworks?

SQF Prediction: 2-2

Calling all City and Chelsea fans: What do you think the score will be? Can Mourinho prove he's the Special One by taking points off City or will the hosts run riot again? Whatever your views, we'd love to hear from you.
